Preserve sound wood and replace what has failed
Cause-specific treatment
We separate beetle activity from fungal decay before selecting chemicals.
Access is planned
We consider exposed and concealed timber rather than treating only easy surfaces.

Inspect the wood before reaching for chemicals
Timber can be damaged by beetles, dry rot, wet rot or the moisture conditions that support them. Each needs a different response. We inspect structural and decorative wood, looking at species, accessibility, damp levels, visible damage and remaining strength. Fresh bore dust points us in a different direction from soft wood beside a leak or brittle fungal decay. Hidden floor voids and roof spaces may also need access before the full extent is clear. Our timber preservation work begins with identification, so chemical treatment, moisture control and replacement are used only where the condition of the wood calls for them.

Treatment works better in a drier building
Where specified, we prepare exposed surfaces and apply a suitable fungicide or insecticide. Chemical treatment can kill or control the cause, but it cannot put strength back into badly damaged wood. Timber that no longer performs its role may need replacement. We also examine ventilation and ongoing water entry because damp, still conditions can encourage fungal growth and some infestations. After treatment, observation helps spot any fresh activity or recurring moisture. We provide a free timber preservation survey and quote, giving you a practical plan before repair work starts.
Frequently asked questions
Which timber problems can we inspect and treat?
We inspect timber affected by wood-boring beetles, dry rot and wet rot, along with moisture or ventilation conditions that support damage. Treatment depends on the cause, accessibility and strength of each section.
Can chemicals restore weakened structural timber?
No. Fungicides and insecticides control specified biological causes but do not rebuild lost wood. We assess strength separately and recommend replacement where a section is no longer adequate for its structural or practical role.
What happens during a timber preservation survey?
We inspect visible signs, moisture, access and the condition of affected wood. Our findings guide any chemical treatment, opening-up, moisture control or replacement. The timber survey and quote are provided free.
