Protect sound timber without treating old marks blindly
Activity is checked
We separate fresh beetle evidence from holes left by an old infestation.
Moisture is included
We trace damp conditions that can support fungal or insect damage.
Free survey and quote
You receive an assessment and proposed timber work before deciding.
Read the clues in masonry and wood
Small holes, fresh bore dust, dark staining and soft timber each tell a different part of the story. We inspect properties in Skipton for woodworm, fungal decay and damp that may be creating poor conditions around the wood. An old flight hole does not prove current infestation, just as a musty smell does not identify the source of moisture. We look for active evidence, check accessible timber strength and trace recurring damp. The findings may lead to insecticide, fungicide, replacement timber, improved moisture control or a suitable damp-proofing method.

Good access makes hidden damage easier to judge
Floor voids, lofts and concealed structural areas often need closer access than a decorated room allows. Tell us where you have seen holes, powder, staining or softness, and clear any available hatches before our Skipton visit. Photographs can help us understand the spread, but they do not replace inspection where strength or active infestation is in question. We provide a free timber preservation survey and quote. If masonry damp also needs work, we explain how that treatment fits with the timber plan so one moisture source is not left feeding further damage.
Frequently asked questions
What timber signs should we report?
Tell us about fresh bore dust, new holes, soft wood, cracking, staining or a musty smell. Note the room or void involved and whether the signs change after wet weather.
Will every damaged section need chemical treatment?
No. Treatment depends on whether insects or fungus are active and whether the timber remains strong enough. Some areas may need monitoring, moisture control or replacement instead of chemical application.
Are timber preservation surveys in Skipton free?
Yes. We provide a free timber preservation survey and quote. We inspect accessible wood, moisture conditions and visible evidence before setting out any proposed insecticide, fungicide or replacement work.
